For demonstrating thermal expansion and contraction of metals when heated and cooled. The ball passes freely through the ring when both are at the same temperature, but when the ball is heated it will not pass, thereby showing expansion and when it is allowed to be cooled it will again pass through the ring thereby showing contraction. Consists of a brass ball and a brass ring, each individually mounted on brass rods with wooden handles.
