A peristaltic pump, also commonly known as a roller pump, is a type of positive displacement pump used for pumping a variety of fluids. The fluid is contained within a flexible tube fitted inside a circular pump casing, while a rotor compresses the tube to move fluid through the system.

As the rotor turns, the compressed section of the tube pinches closed and forces the fluid forward. When the tube returns to its natural shape after the rotor passes, fluid flow is induced into the pump. This peristaltic action is commonly used for chemical dosing, fluid transfer, and bottle filling.
